Shri Manoj Sharma, General Manager, East Coast Railway is an officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) of the 1985 batch.
Shri Sharma has worked as the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) of Central Railway in Mumbai. He has also worked as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) on Ratlam Division of Western Railway , Chief Engineer of Northern Railway in Delhi, Chief General Manager of National Highway Authority of India (N.H.A.I.) in Delhi and Joint Director/Director of Research Design and Standards Organisation (R.D.S.O) in Lucknow.
He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee) and had joined Indian Railways in 1987. He has vast experience in maintenance of tracks and bridges, execution and the commissioning of construction projects. His expertise in Civil Engineering gave him the opportunity and exposure to road construction projects at N.H.A.I. under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He demonstrated his sound technical knowhow and acumen in engineering during his stint at R.D.S.O. Under his leadership, Railways successfully and efficiently organised train services to carry millions of pilgrims celebratingSimhastha Kumbh Mela at Ujjain in 2016
In addition to his graduation and masters from premium institutes in India, he has undergone an international training programme in the field of Wheel Rail Interaction with National Research Council (NRC) in Vancouver, Canada, under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He has also undergone training in Public Administration at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Delhi in 2011.
