Bhubaneswar, 22.11.2022:
The affected train line at Korai which was damaged by Goods Train derailment on Monday morning has been repaired within 16 hours only due to consistent effort and quick restoration work made by ECoR on war footing basis.
General Manager East Coast Railway Shri Roop Narayan Sunkar himself was in the accident site to monitor the restoration work along with other Principal Heads of the Departments of ECoR including Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road Railway Division.
Due to the derailment, both the lines at Korai Station in Bhadrak-Kapilas Road Railway Section in Howrah-Chennai Main Line were blocked. Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Teams were immediately engaged for restoration work.
Due to the consistent efforts of Railwaymen, the affected wagons were cleared from the track at about 5.35p.m. and track fit given in Down Line in the late evening and both the tracks were made fit for train traffic movement before midnight along with restoration work for Over Head Equipments (OHE) Works.
In the restoration work, Railway machineries along with heavy Capacity Excavators, Cutters and workforce were used.
EX-GRATIA:
Apart from this, General Manager also handed over the ex-gratia of Rupees 5 lakhs each to the kins of the person died in the incident. Ex-gratia has also been handed over to the injured persons. Honorable Railway Minister had expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakhs each to the kins of the deceased person and Rs 1 Lakh each for grievous injuries and Rs 25 thousand for minor injuries which was provided to the affected immediately.
