‘East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), Khurda Road’, is part of the chain of ‘Railway Women’s Welfare Organisations’ working at the Zonal and Divisional levels of Indian Railways all over the country. It is functioning at divisional level and is located at the Divisional Headquarter of Indian Railways at Khurda Road.  It constitutes of wives of the officers posted on East Coast Railway, Khurda Road Division and is headed by the wife of Divisional Railway Manager, East Coast Railways, Khurda Road. ECoRWWO, Khurda Road functions under zonal level ‘East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, Bhubaneshwar’; which in turn functions under national level ‘Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, New Delhi’.
 

ECoRWWO, Khurda Road is dedicated to the welfare of Railway employees and their families in particular, and to local community in general. To enrich their educational, cultural and social aspects, East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), Khurda Road, runs a number of centres.Adult Literacy Centre provides basic literacy free of cost. Divine Life Society Centre for Leprosy patients provides dresser and medical facilities without any charge to leprosy patients at Jatni.Disha – Usha Sewing Schoolimparts sewing & embroidery skills to women & girls to make them self reliant.Orion Computer Training Centreprovides basic computer training at nominal charges.Utkal Public School, affiliated to CBSE, provides quality education from LKG to Class VIII.Jhankar Music & Dance Schoolimparts training in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music, Odissi dance, Tabla and Contemporary Dance.Kalangan Art & Craft School, affiliated to Lalit Kala Academy, Bhubaneshwar, runs many courses in art & craft. Learners of these centres are encouraged to participate in various competitions and also to showcase their talent in various events being organized in the region.


Other than running these centres, ECoRWWO, Khurda Road undertakes many welfare activities round the year, such as, extending assistance to the needy children of Railway employees in their pursuit of higher studies in technical fields, organizing various competitions in drawing, painting and essay writing for the children of the area, extending services to the distressed people during natural calamities, like floods and cyclones, that affect the coastal belt of Orissa.
 

Some of the other welfare activities undertaken by ECoRWWO, Khurda Road regularly are: organizing Baby Show and Blood Donation Camp; organizing Summer Camps in which short-term courses on music, dance, art, yoga and computer are conducted to help the children and adults discover their latent talents; distribution of fruits, food packets and utility items on Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Republic Day and Martyr’s day; organizing Rangoli and Cookery competitions for ECoRWWO members, etc. Independence Day, Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, Saraswati Puja, Republic day, Sports day, Annual day are some of the events celebrated with great fanfare at various centres being run by ECoRWWO, Khurda Road


In December 2009, Office of ECoRWWO, Khurda Road along with some of the centres run by it, were relocated within an aesthetically decorated complex, which was named as ‘Srijan Kunj’. This was done so that a symbiotic relationship can foster between all the centres, including Utkal Public School. ECoRWWO, Khurda Road remains committed to its pledge for taking up staff and community welfare activities.
