Special fixture designed and fabricated at MCSW for manufacturing of the end unit of a coach
CRW/Mancheswar has developed a fixture for holding different components to manufacture end units of underframe of coaches. Correctly aligned end unit can be manufactured with less manpower with correct down hand CO2 welding process.
In-House preparation for Screen Printing at MCSW
For aesthetic look and better prominence of exterior andend panel, lettering and numbering of coaches is being screen painted at Paint Shop/CRW/MCS. The Screen preparation, DTP and development process in dark room are being done in-house at MCS.

EFFORTS IN BOGIE MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY ON RUN
1) The bogies are being tested for bent axle guides by use of a LASER based trammeling
gun which is accurate to the order of 1mm. Due to this lot of otherwise unidentifiable
cases has been detected and a lot of 80 axle guides has been changed in 3 months time
against a stipulated monthly consumption of 6.

2) Adoption to practices of 100% Dye penetration testing of axle box lug area has greatly helped in filtering out damaged/cracked axle box lugs and strongly downward trend in the problem of 100 days sick marking in depots has been observed.
F FUTURE VISION OF MANCHESWAR WORKSHOP:
¨ Augmentation of POH capacity to 150 coaches per month.
¨ Work for augmenting the POH capacity to 150 coaches per month has been sanctioned by the Railway Board vide Pink Book item no: 328 of 2008-09.
¨ Development of facility to undertake POH of Duronto coaches (LHB shell and air spring bogies).
¨ Indian Railways is switching over to LHB design shell and ICF bogie with air spring. Duronto Express running between Bhubaneswar to New Delhi is with this type of coaches.
¨ The workshop is actively planning to be in readiness to undertake POH of these hybrid coaches by 2011-12. First IOH of air spring Duranto bogie set has been successfully carried out in March 2011.
¨ Rajdhani rakes of NDLS-BBS express have been handed over to ECoR wef 01.02.2011. MCS workshop is gearing up for POH and IOH of FIAT bogies with LHB shell from 01.01.2012.
