The area served by Sambalpur Division is endowed with natural resources and has a good potential for economic growth. “Indian Railways” – The lifeline of this nation, through Sambalpur Division, is playing a vital role in the socio-economic development of the region. Sambalpur Division covers 9 districts of Odisha and 2 districts of Chhatisgarh.
The Division achieved freight loading of3.850 MT during the fiscal year 2017-18 up to September which is 17.31% higher than 2016-17. 120.23 freight trains were interchanged per day with adjacent divisions during this period which is 3.00% higher than the previous year. Loading of rakes per day has risen by 20.32% during 2017-18. 148 long haul trains ran over the division during this period.
Free Wi-Fi service has been provided at Samablpur Division. Mist cooling system has been provided at Sambalpur and Balangir stations.
Sambalpur Division is also committed to give 100% satisfaction to the rail users. Passenger Reservation system (PRS) has been installed at 41 stations including 05 postal and 05 Non-Rail Head PRS over Sambalpur Division. Automatic Ticket Vending Machine has already been provided at 15 stations (17 Nos.) and Station Ticket Booking Agents are working at 26 stations over Sambalpur Division.
Sambalpur Division is having total 738.485 Route KM and 973.391Track KM .Double line between Titlagarh-Kantabanji, Hirakud-Godbhaga and Sargipali-Handapa has been commissioned. 06 Nos. of Limited Height Subways (LHS) have been constructed & 3 Nos. of Additional Foot over Bridges have been constructed in Jarpada, Jharsuguda Road and Bamur stations up to September during 2017-18.
563.302 Track KM has been electrified between Angul-Bamur, Sambalpur-Jharsuguda and Therubali-Titlagarh sections of Sambalpur Division. 4Nos. OHE Depots have been established at Boinda, Muniguda, Rupra Road &Rengali stations.
Up to September’17 during 2017-18,an amount of Rs. 58107278/- has been saved through energy conservation measures by timely shorting down of 7294 diesel locomotives for duration of 36385 hours.
OBHS facilities have been provided in 5 pairs of trains and approximately 100 coaches have been done on clean train stations per day. 69 coaches have been provided with Bio-toilet facilities. Train No. 18109/10 (JamuTawi Express) has been extended from Rourkela to Sambalpur on 12.08.2017.
Under Swachha Bharat Mission, we have also conducted extensive drives at all stations, work place, units to aware the public regarding cleanliness.
