East Coast Railway set up a centralised Staff Grievance Redressal Monitoring Cell in its headquarters office at Rail Sadan, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar having a toll free number 1800-345-7126 for prompt redressal of the staff grievances related to (01) Representations/complaints regarding non-payment of salary /allowances or other dues, (02) Representations on other service matters, (03) Representations against the orders of the immediate superior authority and (04) Appeals and petitions under statutory rules and orders.
East Coast Railway has ensured continuous monitoring of the grievances provided to its staff as part of a welfare measure to assure effective and quality service. Supervision and monitoring have been strengthened through a mechanism put in place by deploying Railway Staff of Personnel Department, who check grievances along with feedback and take corrective action in a time bound manner.
When Railway servant wishes to seek redress of a grievance, he has to address the matter to his immediate superior official or the Head of his Department or such other authority at the lowest level who is competent to deal with the matter.
Any attempt by a Government servant to seek a decision on such issues in a Court of Law, without first exhausting the normal official channels of redress, can only be regarded as contrary to official propriety and subversive of good discipline and may well justify the initiation of disciplinary action against the Government servant.
East Coast Railway has provided Toll Free Number 1800-345-7126 in the Staff Grievance Monitoring Cell at its headquarters which is operational during office hours of all working days.
