SCIENCE EXPRESS EXHIBITION TRAIN ON CLIMATE ACTION TO CHUG IN TO FOUR STATIONS IN ECoR JURISDICTION

Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAC), an Exhibition on Wheel Train to perform exhibition at four Stations viz. Bhadrak, Puri, Chhatrapur and Kottavalasa over East Coast Railway jurisdiction to create awareness among various sections of society, especially students, teachers and general public about the climate change and similar issues.

 

This Science Express Exhibition Special Train mounted on a customised 16 coach AC Train is an initiative of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India in collaboration with other Ministries like Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC); Department of Bio-technology and Ministry of Railways and has been designed by Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre.

 

The exhibition will convey a message about Climate Change and will also be a good opportunity to generate dialogue and discussion. The state-of-the-art exhibition on board the SECAS aims to create awareness among various sections of society as to how climate change can be combated through mitigation and adaptation. Of the 16 coaches of SECAS, exhibition in 8 coaches developed by MoEFCC, is exclusively devoted to information, case studies and material related to various aspect of Climate change, the underlying science, impacts, adaptation activities, mitigation solutions and policy approaches in a manner that is easy to understand and interesting for not just school students but also the masses.

 

The Exhibition Train has been designed to make people aware of implications of global warming and climate change and will have stoppages and will open to public at Bhadrak Railway Station from 9thto 12thMay (except 10thMay as holiday), Puri from 13thto 16thMay 2016, Chhatrapur from 17thto 19thMay 2017 and at Kottavalasa from 20thto 23rdMay 2017 in East Coast Railway jurisdiction. The timings of the exhibition will be from 1000hrs to 1800hrs on the nominated days.
